The Tormead Enrichment Award is presented to an alumna who has a talent in any field, who is looking for support with a new project, or to further their own professional or educational career, or is perhaps a business woman or novice entrepreneur requiring our support. Last year, this award was presented to Helena and Amberlilly and they have used it to great effect...
"We have been using the award to create 'Queen of Magic', our debut show as a professional theatre duo. It is a long-form cabaret piece about misogyny in magic and how we relate to role models and 'heroes'. We performed an excerpt of the show at Camden People's Theatre in March, then a full-length work in progress at Farnham Maltings in April. Following feedback and evaluation from these (and a very busy summer!), we are now working hard at developing the show and making sure it has a strong narrative, alongside all the magic and silly sketches! We hope to stage it in full in London within the next year."
We are incredibly proud of both Helena and Amberlilly and are honoured to have contributed to their success. We will also be announcing this years winner by the end of November.
